The station began operation in 1947. The intention was to provide listeners with the best news, sports, and music within a 60 mile radius.

During the “Big Flood” of November 1950 the station operated on an emergency basis for 45 hours continuously to assist in taking care of all emergency requests. Over 300 calls per hour were answered in the two days and nights of emergency operation.

Again during the ‘72 flood, 92.1 was a force in helping the community overcome the tragedies.  DJ’s came to the station by boat and climbed trees to get into the station in order to broadcast personal messages and updated information.

Over the years the station has grown with the times, but still continues to provide listeners with all the current news, sports, and music.

Now owned and operated by John Lipez, Harris’ son, the station provides many services to the local community.
